Our Story

How would you get around if you were unable to drive or lacked the means to maintain a private vehicle?

Which daily meal would you skip if your income is too low to meet even basic nutrition necessities?

Who would you turn to if you couldn’t do something as basic as take a bath or prepare a meal?

HomeCare Services, Inc. is a not-for-profit 501c(3) that understands and has addressed these issues for all of Dallas County residents who have such needs since 1967 resulting in over 40 years of continuous care.

The origins of HomeCare Services, Inc. of Dallas County began with the articles of incorporation signed on September 18, 1967 when the organization’s name was Dallas County Homemaker Health Aide. On July 8, 1968 the name was changed to Dallas County Homemaker Health Aide Services, Inc.

As the name suggests, the purpose of the agency, at that time, was to provide homemaker services and health care aides to assist people in their homes. While that is still a part of HomeCare Services, Inc. of Dallas County, it is one service line among the total of three present service lines, which also include nutrition and transportation. On February 24, 1986 the agency underwent yet another name change in which it took on its present name of HomeCare Services, Inc. of Dallas County. Today, HomeCare Services, Inc. of Dallas County is much more! Thirty-two staff members and many volunteers provide public transportation, meals, and homecare.

As the provider of public transportation in Dallas County, our buses log over 200,000 miles per year taking county residents to their doctor’s appointments, grocery shopping, to work, and even to school. Our meal services feed over 175 people daily, Monday through Friday, and our homecare aide services provide personal care and housekeeping services to an average of 75 people every month.

HomeCare Services’ original homecare aide service continues today as one of the busiest parts of the services provided by HomeCare. Staff attentively provides care for those in their homes. Trained and dedicated staff provides assistance with personal care and light homemaking tasks in order to help people stay safe in their homes.  Services are paid for by sliding fee scales based upon income, various waiver programs, or private pay.

HomeCare Services Inc., depends on subsidies from various waiver programs and donations in order to continue services to those who are without the ability to cover the costs of services, or to supplement other funding.  We thank all who assist in helping us continue services to others.
